In Ultimo the very best show jumping blood is united. His sire Phin Phin has a very valuable pedigree. He is a son of Chin Chin, who jumped in the Olympics. Phin Phin is following in the tracks of his sire. He won the cycle for seven-year-olds in Belgium and immediately went on to book fine results at international level in Amsterdam, Valkenswaard, London and Wiesbaden. Ultimo’s dam, the ‘keur’ and ‘preferent’ awarded Irence has a lot of quality and suppleness and in her test showed a lot of jumping talent. Her sire Burggraaf is, of course, one of the great sires in today’s KWPN breeding and produced an impressive series of international Grand Prix horses. Grandam Terence is also grandam to the national jumper Merlinda (by Burggraaf). When he received his license, Ultimo was described as ‘a royally developed, longlegged, long-lined, typical riding horse stallion, with a clear square build'. At his performance test Ultimo made a deep impression over the fence and showed his great talent as a show jumping horse. In addition, Ultimo is a careful jumper displaying much, in fact, very much power. Further, according to the performance test report, he has a ‘beautifully rounded back over the fence, opening well behind'. This success story is followed by a good foal report: Ultimo produces extremely welldeveloped, typical riding horse foals with good form in trot and a good, well-balanced canter.
